Emergency Management

MCC continuously strives to provide a safe and enriching learning environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. With safety being of paramount importance, the College maintains a comprehensive emergency response plan and regularly conducts drills and exercises. In response to actual emergencies, the College utilizes the National Incident Management System (NIMS) which provides flexibility in approach and can be applied to a variety of scenarios.

The College’s emergency response efforts focus on prevention, preparedness, response and recovery. Public Safety staff and key college personnel routinely test MCC's Emergency Response Plan by rehearsing their designated roles during a campus emergency. In addition, the Department of Public Safety works collaboratively with MCC’s administrators as well as local, state, and federal emergency service providers to ensure crisis situations are managed efficiently and effectively.

In the event of an emergency on campus, information will be communicated to the college community through MCC’s Alert System, public address system, and postings on the college’s website. Should an emergency exist within the Greater Rochester Metropolitan area, it is recommended that you stay tuned to local radio and television broadcasts for additional information.

As safety is a shared responsibility, the campus community can assist by staying alert, adhering to emergency notifications and immediately reporting suspicious activity to Public Safety at (585) 292-2911.
