About Our Program

History

We began educating student radiographers in 1967, and since then over 700 students have graduated from our program as competent diagnostic radiographers. Many of our graduates are employed in high profile positions in radiography and other medical imaging modalities within Rochester and the surrounding area. The faculty is dedicated to providing the highest quality of education possible throughout the two-year course of study. In addition, our clinical education centers, five hospitals and six offices, offer state-of-the-art resources and a vast and extensive variety of clinical opportunities for our students.

The radiologic technologist, also known as a radiographer, is a health-care professional who administers ionizing radiation (x-rays) to produce anatomic images for diagnostic, therapeutic, and research purposes. The images may be recorded photographically or digitally and are interpreted by a licensed practitioner such as a radiologist (specialized physician) in the diagnosis and treatment of injury, anomalies, and disease. This curriculum qualifies the student for an A.A.S. degree in diagnostic radiologic technology. Students attend didactic and laboratory classes on campus and clinical classes at area hospitals. The student is responsible for arranging transportation to and from the college and hospitals when required.
