Campus Wide Lockdown Drills Planned
The Public Safety Department is planning a series of campus-wide lockdown drills to prepare the College community for an emergency.
Before these lockdown drills, we strongly encourage you to familiarize yourself with the Public Safety Department’s Emergency Management webpage located on the Public Safety Department website. In addition, as a reminder, these are specific actions to take in the event of a campus lockdown:
- Leave the threat area. Go to a safe location as far away from the danger as possible.
- Seek shelter in the nearest room where you are out of sight. Encourage others to seek shelter as well.
- If you are in a room, close and lock the door. If possible, barricade the door. Turn off the room lights, silence your cell phone, and stay away from doors and windows.
- Unless MCC Public Safety or law enforcement directs you to, do not leave the room unless it is no longer safe to remain there.
- Monitor emergency communications from MCC Public Safety via MCC Alert (text/e-mail), MCC Guardian, campus loudspeakers, and the College’s website for additional information and instructions.
- You can also view the “Run, Hide, Fight” instructional video.
Lockdown Drills are scheduled for the following dates and times:
- Tuesday, February 25, 11:00 am, Brighton Campus
- Thursday, February 27, 11:00 am, Downtown - Note Time Change
- Thursday, February 27, 1:00 pm, ATC - Note Time Change
You can sign up for MCC Alert online.
MCC Alert is a dedicated emergency communications system where you will receive messaging and instructions on what to do in the event of a campus wide emergency.
