NUR-211 — Psychiatric-Mental Health Nur

NUR 211 focuses on the Basic Needs of patients with psychiatric/mental health problems using the Nursing Process to provide quality, safe patient centered care for diverse populations through teamwork and collaboration. Students use knowledge, science and evidence to manage the issues of patients with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions in a variety of healthcare environments. The core competencies of Associate Degree Nursing practice expanded upon in NUR 112 are applied to this patient population. This course has a required clinical component.

Prerequisites

NUR 112, BIO 144, BIO 145, PSY 212 and ENG 101 or ENG 200, all with a minimum grade of C. Corequisite(s): NUR 210, BIO 202 and SOC 101, unless previously taken.

Project Description

Course focuses on providing quality, safe, patient centered for diverse adult and populations with psychiatric-mental health problems. Teamwork and collaboration are embedded in all interactions. Students provide nursing care, including teaching, and manage issues of patients with both acute and chronic psychiatric conditions. Students provide individualized, attentive, compassionate, and comprehensive care with a 1:1 student nurse to patient ratio, which contributes to positive patient outcomes and increased patient satisfaction.
