Please note that some courses required in a Transfer Pathway may not be required for the MCC program. This could have financial aid implications. Students should meet with their advisor or with a transfer representative to discuss an academic plan and recommended sequence of courses.
The Liberal Arts and Sciences
degree (LA04) provides flexibility to tailor coursework for a smooth transfer.
The goal is to obtain your A.S. degree while taking SUNY General Education
and foundation courses for your major at the 4-year degree institution.
Admission to RIT's Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is competitive;
Up to two seats per year are available to students that have been accepted
into the MCC 2+2 Transfer Pathway (LA63) as indicated by the MCC major.
Students repeating courses more than once will have their grade point average
recalculated by RIT to include these courses in their overall GPA. Numerous
repeat of courses and/or low GPA may result in removal of student from
the 2+3 agreement by MCC or RIT.
This program starts in the Fall semester only. Students should apply to
RIT by February 1 of the year they plan to start at RIT. Read all notes
on the bottom of this page for RIT specific information.
Note that RIT also offers certificate programs in Diagnostic
Medical Sonography (Ultrasound)
and Echocardiography
(Cardiac Ultrasound).
These may be good options to explore.

It is also advised to take courses toward an Immersion
or Minor
at RIT if able.
Required for students accepted into this Competitive 2+2 (as indicated
by the MCC major): Matriculated, continuous, full-time enrollment (12 or
more credit hours).
AP, IB, CLEP, transfer courses, MCC College Now or other Dual Enrollment
credits: Credits showing as accepted by MCC may not be transferable.

GPA of 3.2 or higher is advised for acceptance to RIT. GPA of 2.0 is required
for MCC graduation.
MCC ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Advising is mandatory. Students must consult with an advisor prior to course
registration. The counsel and consent of the student’s advisor is important
in the final selection.
Students must complete at least one 200-level course to satisfy the degree
requirements.
Students must complete at least one SUNY General Education course that
fulfills a SUNY Critical Thinking and Reasoning Competency (CTRN).
The Liberal Arts A.S. (LA04) will be the degree student is audited against
and awarded from MCC.
