The Liberal
Arts and Sciences degree (LA04) provides flexibility to tailor coursework
for a smooth transfer. The goal is to obtain your A.S. degree while taking
SUNY General Education and foundation courses for your major at the 4-year
degree institution. As
of Fall 2023, any student who transfers to SUNY Brockport with an earned
Associate’s degree (AS, AAS, or AA) or earned Bachelor’s degree will
have ALL general education requirements completed (this includes SUNY and
Brockport local requirements). Brockport accepts up to 75 credits from
community colleges.
Directions:
1. Choose your intended SUNY Brockport major from the list below.
2. Use your MCC Degree Works worksheet and the major courses listed below
to choose courses to take at MCC. Take as many of the courses outlined
for your specific major as you are able (as well as the SUNY Gen Ed courses
needed for the MCC degree). Depending on your intended major, you may be
able to take additional electives of your choice to obtain the minimum
needed 60 credits to graduate. Make sure to consult with an MCC advisor
prior to course registration. Updated/reviewed dates indicate when Brockport
approved the courses listed.
Prospective MCC students, see the MCC
Liberal Arts and Sciences - General Studies A.S.
degree outline.
3. Carefully read the notes at the bottom of this page; contact your MCC
advisor or SUNY Brockport if you have questions.
4. Apply to SUNY Brockport via the online
SUNY application
the semester before you complete your degree at MCC. It will be free to
apply if you are graduating from MCC.
If you are interested in a major that is not listed on any of the 2+2 guides,
check with a SUNY Brockport admissions representative for suggested courses
to take at MCC. View all
majors offered at SUNY Brockport.
