Transfer Guide for Business and Accounting Majors

MTH 200 Applied Calculus or MTH 210 Calculus I (required by U of R and some others, be sure to check)

Transfer Institution Requirements

SUNY Brockport: Choose BUS 208 instead of 204. Take MTH 161 Statistics II in addition to MTH 200 if possible. To satisfy degree requirements, students must earn 1) a grade of at least C in all courses required for the major, and 2) an overall GPA of 2.0 in all courses required for the major. Business Administration program is also offered online.

St. John Fisher University: Strongly recommend graduating from MCC before transferring as Fisher will waive additional core courses. Choose BUS 208 instead of 204. Take MTH 175 or 200. Recommend - Accounting: take ACC 210, 220; Corporate Finance: take ACC 210, ECO 103. Management: take ECO 103; Marketing: take COM 109.

Rochester Institute of Technology: Offers Accounting, Finance, Hospitality & Tourism Management, Global Business Management, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, and Management Information Systems. Take MTH 161 in addition to MTH 200 if possible. Choose BUS 208. Recommend BUS 250 or BIO 117 or ENG 250 for your elective. Take ENG 105, 215 or SPC 142 for SUNY Humanities.

SUNY University at Buffalo (UB): Accounting: Cumulative 2.75 GPA and 2.95 major GPA with a B or higher in ACC 101 and 102. Business Administration: Cumulative 2.0 GPA and 2.5 major GPA. (Updated May 2025) PSY 101 Introduction to Psychological Science is required for degree at UB; take at MCC if able. MTH 160 & MIS 220 required for match to MGQ 201 Introduction to Statistics for Analytics at UB. MAR 200 and MAR 201 required for match to MGM 301 Principles of Marketing, a required UB major course, but not required for acceptance to major.

SUNY Geneseo: Strongly recommend graduating from MCC before transferring due to seamless transfer policy. Choose BUS 208. Take ENG 250 and PHL 250 if possible. For Business: recommend BUS 250. For Accounting: recommend ACC 220. 2.5 GPA for admission consideration.

Nazareth University: For Business Leadership, Marketing, Accounting BS degrees: Choose BUS 208. Calculus is not required for Business Leadership or Marketing degrees.

Roberts Wesleyan University: Take MTH 161 in addition to MTH 200 if possible. Choose course options from MCC General Education Requirements list (ex. ENG 200, PEC 148, HIS 113, SPC 142, etc.) Grade of C required in all ACC, BUS, ECO, MTH, MAR courses.

University of Rochester: Requires MTH 210 and 211. Take ENG 200 Advanced Composition if able. Does not accept College Now or other Dual Enrollment courses taken in high school.

SUNY Oswego: Choose BUS 204. Finance & Marketing majors: take MTH 161 if able in addition to MTH 200. Grade of C- or higher needed in foundation courses as well as: BUS 104, BUS 201, MTH 161. 2.3 GPA for admission consideration.

SUNY Cortland: Business Economics major. MTH 175 Precalculus OR MTH 210 Calculus I and one semester of a foreign language is required. (If taking Precalculus, will need Mathematical Economics at Cortland; if taking Calculus I, will need Calculus II – can take at Cortland.)

Accelerated Bachelor Degree Programs for Adult Students:
Prerequisite courses may differ from those listed above; students might not need all of the typical business prerequisites for these programs. May accept up to 72 credits from MCC. Courses typically offered online in a cohort model.
