Major Guide

Traditional Nursing Programs

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs listed below are transfer options for students enrolled in non-nursing programs at MCC (for example, Health Studies or Liberal Arts). The clinical part of the nursing major would be taken at the 4-year college or university. It is recommended to take additional core curriculum courses required by the 4-year college at MCC before transferring. Note: CGPA = cumulative grade point average

CHE 124 or 151 are accepted for the chemistry requirement. Science coursework must have been taken within the last five years. A&P I and II should be taken at the same college. PHL 103 is not a nursing prerequisite but will fulfill an area in Naz’s core curriculum. as well as liberal arts credits. However, the completion of a B.S. degree does require 60 liberal arts credits. Students are advised to take additional courses that fulfill the Nazareth core curriculum. Deadline dates: March 1st for fall admission or October 1st for spring admission. Students complete a single application with direct admission to the program. Contact: Tradmissions@naz.edu

Roberts Wesleyan University
Students need a minimum 3.0 GPA in three specific areas: 1) overall, 2) prerequisite sciences, and 3) nursing courses (BIO 217 at MCC and NSG 205 taken at Roberts). Students meeting the minimum GPA requirements can transfer before completing all of the prerequisites, however, all prerequisite sciences must be completed to be eligible to start junior level clinicals. All transfer courses must have a grade of C or higher. Individual science prerequisite courses may only be repeated once to achieve a higher grade. No more than 2 courses in the sciences and/or nursing courses may be repeated. BIO 144, 145, 202 and CHE 124 must be taken within 5 years of the student's start date at Roberts. Applicants are encouraged to apply by December 1st for Spring Admissions or November 15 for fall admissions. Contact: Admissions@roberts.edu

St. John Fisher University
BIO 117 or 217 are accepted for the nutrition requirement; CHE 124 or 151 for the chemistry requirement; and MTH 160 or 162 for the statistics requirement. Recommend taking A & P I and II at the same institution. Students must apply to St. John Fisher first. Then, upon acceptance to Fisher, they must apply to the Wegmans School of Nursing for admission to the junior clinical year. Priority review of completed nursing applications begins April 1. Applicants formally enrolled in the Competitive Transfer Pathway for nursing must have all documentation submitted no later than April 1 if applying to begin the program in the fall; spring Competitive Transfer Pathway applicants should have all documentation submitted before September. All other applicants will be reviewed on a space available basis for fall and alternatively for the spring semester. Applicants must meet these minimum requirements to be considered for entry into the junior clinical year: CGPA of 2.75 or higher from all previously attended colleges; grade of C or higher in each of the nursing prerequisite courses listed above and a cumulative prerequisite GPA of 2.4 or higher (PHL 103 not included in pre-req GPA, but must be C or higher). All prerequisite attempts are included in the pre-req GPA; and 84% or higher on the Math Assessment Level A exam (to be taken at St. John Fisher, 2 attempts allowed). All of the 7 prerequisites are good for 10 years (PHL 103 does not expire). Completing an AS degree with at least 60 approved liberal arts credits is strongly advised. This is important to check as not all courses will transfer as liberal arts. There are more seats available for Spring semester transfers. Contact: transfer@sjf.edu
