nysed workshops for educator certification

As an approved training provider through the New York State Education Department, Monroe Community College offers several workshops for educator certification. Several of our workshops are automatically completed by MCC Education Studies students as part of their degree programs. No separate registration is required for students enrolled in these courses. For those who are not enrolled in these courses, please contact the Educational Resource Center (erc@monroecc.edu)

dignity for all students act (dasa)

This workshop is designed for teachers and school-related professionals applying for a New York State teaching license or certificate. You’ll gain a clear understanding of DASA while building awareness of how school climate, culture, diversity, and personal biases affect student experiences. You’ll also develop sensitivity to the needs of different student populations and learn to recognize, prevent, and respond to bullying, harassment, and discrimination, including working effectively with families of both victims and aggressors.

child abuse identification

This workshop is designed to provide training to state-mandated reporters, including teachers and school-related professionals. You’ll learn to recognize suspected child abuse or maltreatment and how to report suspected instances.

school violence prevention and intervention

This workshop equips school personnel with practical strategies to identify, prevent, and de-escalate aggressive or high-risk behavior before it leads to violence. Participants will leave with a better understanding of behavioral triggers and strategies for maintaining their own safety.

needs of children with autism

Designed for those pursuing special education certification, this workshop provides a foundation for supporting children with autism. You’ll review topics such as characteristics, prevalence, causes, evidence-based instructional strategies, behavior supports, collaboration practices, and available resources.

Need to schedule a workshop for a group?
We can set up stand-alone workshops for groups of 12 or more for any of the topics listed above (including DASA). Please contact the Educational Resource Center (erc@monroecc.edu)
