Design Teams & Clubs
Students in the Engineering Science program have several co-curricular clubs and teams available to them. Prospective employers tend to prefer candidates who have engaged in leadership roles in clubs and teams.
MCC students have traveled to venues such as Honolulu, Vancouver, Portland, Chicago, Louisville, Austin, Tucson, and Pittsburgh competing in intercollegiate competitions.
If you’d like additional information about any of our clubs, please email Debbie Ake.
Engineering Leadership Council
The ELC is one of the premier clubs at MCC. The club consists mostly of engineering science students, although the club is open to all MCC students. Typical educational programs include guest speakers from industry and four-year engineering schools, along with trips to engineering companies and schools.
Social events such as bowling, movie nights, laser tag, faculty vs student volleyball, and club lunches and dinners are common.
Meetings are held Wednesdays at noon. Email Debbie Ake for additional information.
Visit the Engineering Leadership Council Website.
SWE Club
The Society of Women Engineers are guided by the mission to stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrate the value of diversity.
Meetings are held Mondays at noon. Email Debbie Ake for additional information.
MCC UAV-SUAS Design Club
This club designs a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and programs it to fly autonomously. The competition that the team competes in is SUAS (Student Unmanned Aerial Systems) at the Naval Air Station in Patuxent River, Maryland.
SUAS represents a very challenging competition against some of the best engineering schools in the country and the world. MCC has been in the mix every year that we have competed.
Meetings are held Fridays at noon and Saturdays for test flights and build sessions. Email Debbie Ake for additional information.
Robotics Team
MCC's Robotics Team has dominated both the SUNY Two Year Engineering Science Association (TYESA) and the National American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) two-year college design competitions in recent years.
Meetings are held Fridays at noon. Email Debbie Ake for additional information.
Design-Build-Fly Team
In the Design-Build-Fly Team students must design and build an electric powered aircraft that can fit in an airline carry-on suitcase and be able to be assembled and ready to fly in 5 minutes.
Meetings are held Fridays at noon. Email Debbie Ake for additional information.
