Peer Navigators

As an MCC Peer Navigator, you will join a collaborative team that welcomes and orients new students to the college community.

Using your own experiences and perspectives, you will guide incoming students through group events, campus tours, and FYE social activities, helping them explore academic life, campus involvement, and everything that MCC has to offer.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and acclimate new and prospective students during Admissions and Orientation programs.
  • Staff Trib411 Information Center
  • Plan and implement student programming activities to help students develop social connections at MCC.
  • Engage with students on FYE social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok)
  • Provide regular communications with prospective and new students
  • Facilitate Orientation and Welcome events throughout the year
  • Conduct Tours and Information Sessions at MCC.
  • Participate in training activities including weekly meetings

Qualifications

Qualified Candidates will meet the following criteria:

  • Student in good judicial and academic standing
  • Enthusiastic, personable and effective public speaker 
  • Reliable, trust worthy, and able to use good judgement
  • Able to follow specific and sometimes complex directions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and is able to work well in a team setting
  • Has access to internet, laptop/computer and webcam (assistance may be available)
  • Must have a source of reliable transportation

Compensation & Benefits

  • NYS Minimum Wage, 20 hours per week.
