Course Descriptions
ENR 253 - Circuit Analysis 1
4 Credits
Basic electrical concepts including passive circuit element models, Kirchhoff's Laws, operational amplifier models, topological properties of circuits, complete response for RC, RL and RLC circuits; phasor concepts for RLC circuit driven by sinusoidal forcing functions. The laboratory will provide examples of these concepts. Offered in Spring during even numbered years.
Prerequisites: PHY 161; MTH 212 or MTH 225 taken concurrently or previously completed.
Course Learning Outcomes
1. Analyze lumped parameter circuit models using various techniques involving Kirchhoff's Laws.
2. Apply Thevenin and Norton Equivalent circuit models to solve DC resistive networks.
3. Evaluate and differentiate operational amplifier circuits.
4. Determine the input/output relationship of amplifier circuits.
5. Formulate the transient response of first and second order circuits.
6. Apply phasor techniques to determine the steady-state response solution to sinusoidally driven circuits.
