SPA 205 - Advanced Conversational Spanish I

Intensive practice in oral communication at an advanced level. Current trends in spoken Spanish as expressed in contemporary situations.

Prerequisite: SPA 104 or a grade of B or better in high school Spanish 5, or permission of the instructor.

Course Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate the ability to communicate in correct Spanish at the advanced level by successfully talking about topics like abortion, marriage, terrorism, religion, euthanasia, immigration and hopes for the future.
2. Demonstrate the ability to comprehend advanced-level conversational Spanish by accurately debating topics such as family, politics, and personal beliefs and feelings.
3. Demonstrate the ability to comprehend written advanced Spanish by producing an oral report of personal interpretation of Spanish-language poetry.
4. Demonstrate an understanding of the rules of pronunciation of the Spanish language at the advanced level by accurately producing adequately accented and fluent speech that will be easily understood by native Spanish speakers.
