2+2 with Rochester Institute of Technology
B.S. Diagnostic Medical Sonography (LA63)
MCC Degree Awarded:
Liberal Arts & Sciences-General Studies A.S. (LA04)
Please note that some courses required in a Transfer Pathway may not be required for the MCC program. This could have financial aid implications. Students should meet with their advisor or with a transfer representative to discuss an academic plan and recommended sequence of courses.
The Liberal Arts and Sciences
degree (LA04) provides flexibility to tailor coursework for a smooth transfer.
The goal is to obtain your A.S. degree while taking SUNY General Education
and foundation courses for your major at the 4-year degree institution.
Admission to RIT's Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is very competitive;
Up to two seats per year are available to students that have been accepted
into the MCC 2+2 Transfer Pathway (LA63) as indicated by the MCC major.
A minimum GPA of 3.25 at the time of transfer application is required for
admission consideration. Students not formally accepted into the 2+2 (as
indicated by MCC major) may need a higher GPA. Students repeating courses
will have their grade point average recalculated by RIT to include these
courses in their overall GPA. Numerous repeat of courses and/or low GPA
may result in removal of student from the 2+2 agreement by MCC or RIT.
The final admissions
decision will be made by RIT.
Required for students accepted into this Competitive 2+2 (as indicated
by the MCC major): Matriculated, continuous, full-time enrollment (12 or
more credit hours during the Fall and Spring semesters).
This program starts in the Fall semester only. Students should apply to
RIT by February 1 of the year they plan to start at RIT. Read all notes
on the bottom of this page for RIT specific information.
Note that RIT also offers certificate programs in Diagnostic
Medical Sonography (Ultrasound)
and Echocardiography
(Cardiac Ultrasound).
These may be good options to explore (especially Echocardiography). Students
are strongly encouraged to speak with RIT.
