CSTEP Eligibility

Eligibility Requirements

To join the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) at Monroe Community College, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Residency: You must have legal New York State residency.
  • Enrollment: Be a matriculated student at Monroe Community College.
  • Full-Time Status: Be enrolled as a full-time student (12 credit hours per semester or 7 credit hours if enrolled in the Nursing Program).
  • Income Eligibility: Meet the income eligibility requirements (see NYSED Income Eligibility Guidelines below).
  • Financial Aid: Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
  • Career Goals: Have an interest in pursuing a career in a STEM field or a New York State licensed profession (e.g., law, social work, counseling, accounting).
  • Academic Standing: Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Please Note: If your GPA is below 2.5, you may still join CSTEP by committing to a rigorous academic plan designed to improve your performance.
  • Commitment: Actively participate in all CSTEP events and activities.
