Most research experiences are paid during the summer. CSTEP also partners with many labs to secure spots for our students. Make sure to check your MCC inbox for emails from CSTEP and follow-through with the application process.

Opportunties for CSTEP Scholars

  • College Summer Research Experience in Cancer (SURE-CAN) Program(Roswell Park)
    • Experience an immersive 10-week curriculum comprised of lectures on cancer biology and treatment and a mentored-research experience.
    • Receive didactic and hands-on training in quantitative sciences and emerging technologies including cancer imaging, genomics/bioinformatics, computational oncology, and artificial intelligence.
    • Understand and apply statistics, research ethics, rigor and reproducibility in research.
    • Participate in professional development activities including a career panel and a session on applying to graduate school. Regarding graduate school, you can get your MS or PhD in Cancer Science at Roswell Park, too. Eighty percent of summer interns who apply to our PhD program are accepted!
    • Interns develop skills in scientific communication. The college program culminates in a series of closing events that are open to the public during which interns deliver a 3-minute lay talk, 10 minute research presentation, and a scientific poster.

  • Buffalo Pharmacy Summer Institute
    • Our unique program incorporates active participation in a wide range of learning experiences including:
      • Admissions Planning and Academic Advising: Get tips and guidance on how to prepare for your education and career in pharmacy practice and/or research.
      • Career Discovery: Learn about the diverse job opportunities for pharmacists.
      • Research Opportunities: Visit our research labs and meet with faculty in clinical and basic sciences.
      • Building Tours: Explore our internationally recognized community of healing, learning and discovery.
      • Meet Us: Network with real-world practitioners, researchers and current UB PharmD students.
      • Activities and Live Demos: Observe pharmacy skills and techniques, such as patient counseling and compounding.

  • 2026 Green Teams Internship Program
    • The PSEG Institute for Sustainability Studies is pleased to announce that undergraduate student applications are now open for our summer 2026 Green Teams Internship Program running from May 27th, 2026, to August 6th, 2026. Students from all majors and universities are encouraged to apply. This 11-week program pays a $7,000 stipend and provides on-campus housing. Travel grants are also available. Students are provided with comprehensive training, professional development, and networking opportunities with industry professionals while working on a project posed by a partnering host organization. This program brings together students from diverse backgrounds, universities, and majors to address complex sustainability challenges for a wide array of organizations, including but not limited to corporations, local businesses, municipalities, community groups, government agencies, and nonprofits. CSTEP scholars who conduct research or internship are able to apply to present their projects at MCC Scholars Day, at local poster symposiums, at the statewide CSTEP conference, and at other national conferences, depending of their subject of research.
