If you have questions, always consult with an advisor from the Education Department. The New York Teacher Education Certification requirements, as well as, transferability of courses to 4 year colleges, change frequently. The best advice is to seek advice!

  • Choose what level of teacher certification you are seeking
    • Early Childhood certification (Birth - 2nd grade)
    • Childhood Certification (1-6th grade)
    • Adolescent Certification (9-12th grade)

  • Choose your content core concentration in consultation with your Education Advisor
    • Education students are “Double Majors”
    • Students must choose a subject concentration at all levels of certification (ex. math, science, English, etc.)

  • Start your 4 year college search within your 1st semester at MCC
    • Choose a school that best suits your professional goals (see Education dept. for career advisement)
      • Levels of Teacher Certification
      • Concentration areas
      • GPA requirements
