Over 40 years ago, local leaders were concerned by a projected nursing shortage in our community. After seeing the success of the community college educational model elsewhere in the state, they were determined to bring this form of public education to Monroe County. Thus, with an impetus to provide nursing education beyond hospital walls, MCC was founded in 1961.
