Did You Know?

  • Over 40 years ago, local leaders were concerned by a projected nursing shortage in our community. After seeing the success of the community college educational model elsewhere in the state, they were determined to bring this form of public education to Monroe County. Thus, with an impetus to provide nursing education beyond hospital walls, MCC was founded in 1961.
  • The Associate Nursing program at Monroe Community College, Brighton Campus located in Rochester, NY is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), 3390 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 1400 Atlanta, GA 30326 (404) 975-5000. The most recent accreditation decision made by the ACEN Board of Commissioners for the associate nursing program is Continuing Accreditation.   • Graduates of MCC's nursing program become members of the profession upon successful completion of the New York State Licensing Examination for Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN).
  • The New York State (NCLEX-RN) pass rate for MCC consistently surpasses the rates for New York.
  • The Nursing Department participates in a variety of articulation programs with area colleges and universities such as Nazareth College, Roberts Wesleyan College, St. John Fisher College, The College at Brockport, State University of New York, Keuka College, Excelsior College, and the University of Rochester. This cooperative arrangement enables nursing graduates of our program to transfer with full status as a junior or senior to participating institutions.
