THE 147 - Readers' Theatre

3 Credits

The oral interpretation of poetry, prose and playscripts. Process includes analysis of written material and development of the technical skills involved in reading aloud for an audience.

Course Learning Outcomes
1. Analyze written material in terms of purpose, point of view, mood, theme, literary devices, setting, persona, syllabic emphasis and focus
2. Compose a validated introduction to a performance of written material based on author intent
3. Implement effective editing techniques in order to prepare written material for the stage
4. Perform various examples of prose, poetry, and dramatic literature with an emphasis on character, insight, voice and movement
5. Evaluate personal performance and peer performances based on character, insight, voice, movement, focus and reaction
