This 13 credit microcredential is designed to support in-service New York State certified teachers who are seeking supplementary and/or additional teaching certification in Technology Education. These courses cover a significant portion of the New York State learning standards and teaching competencies in this subject area.

Note: NYSED does not pre-approve any coursework for supplementary or additional teacher certifications. Teachers must submit their transcripts to NYSED directly to apply for these certifications. Prospective students are encouraged to reach out to the NYSED Office of Teaching Initiatives or their Regional Certification Office for more information on certification pathways and the application process.

NYSED requires a grade of C or higher in subject area classes in order for them to count towards certification.

Requirements:

ELT 111 - Introduction to Digital Electronics (3 credits)
Prerequisite(s): MTH 150 or MTH 098 with a grade of C or higher or equivalent

ELT 121 - AC/DC Circuit Analysis (4 credits)
Prerequisite(s): MCC Level 8 or higher Mathematics Placement OR concurrent registration with MTH 152

MET 101 - Technical Graphics (3 credits)
Prerequisite(s): Some experience with mechanical drawing is desirable, since most students in this course have had one or more terms of drawing.

MET 121 - Computer Aided Drafting/Design - Solid Modeling (3 credits)
Prerequisite(s)/corequisite(s): MET 101

    1) CIT 122 - Construction I: Elements of Building Construction (4 credits)
    Prerequisite(s)/corequisite(s): MTH 135 or MTH 152
      CIT 123 - Introduction to Heavy, Highway and Site Construction (4 credits)
      Prerequisite(s): MTH 104 OR MTH 152 OR Placement at Math Level 8 OR Higher OR Permission of Program Coordinator. Completion of CIT 122-Elements of Building Construction is recommended.
    2) ELT 134 - Introduction to Programmable Logic Controller (3 credits)

      ELT 234 - Advanced Programmable Logic Controllers (3 credits)
      Prerequisite(s): ELT 134

    3) ELT 210 - C/C++ Programming for Electrical Engineering Technology (3 credits)
      Prerequisite(s): ELT 111, ELT 121, ELT 112

      ELT 212 - Digital and Microcontroller Systems (4 credits)
      Prerequisite(s): ELT 202, ELT 210

    4) MET 103 - Manufacturing Processes I (2 credits)
MET 135 - Measurement and Analysis (3 credits)
