Business and Marketing for Teachers

This 13 credit microcredential is designed to support in-service New York State certified teachers who are seeking supplementary and/or additional teaching certification in Business and Marketing. These courses cover a significant portion of the New York State learning standards and teaching competencies in this subject area.
Note: NYSED does not pre-approve any coursework for supplementary or additional teacher certifications. Teachers must submit their transcripts, and proof of additional certification requirements such as Content Specialty Test (CST) results, to NYSED directly to apply for these certifications. Prospective students are encouraged to reach out to the NYSED Office of Teaching Initiatives or their Regional Certification Office for more information on certification pathways and the application process.
NYSED requires a grade of C or higher in subject area classes in order for them to count towards certification.
Requirements:
ACC 101 - Accounting Principles I (4 credits)
Prerequisite(s): TRS 094 or MTH 130, either with a grade of C or better OR MCC Level 4 Mathematics Placement OR equivalent.
BUS 104 - Introduction to Business (3 credits)
BUS 204 - Management: Theory and Practice (3 credits)
Prerequisite(s): BUS 104 with a grade of C or higher
MAR 200 - Principles of Marketing (3 credits)
Prerequisite(s): BUS 104 or BUS 110 with a C or higher AND Math Level 6 Placement (or higher) or MTH 096/098/104/155/160/161/162/165/higher with a C or higher.
Optional: For teachers seeking additional credits in this subject area.
BUS 201 - Business Law I (3 credits)
ACC 102 - Accounting Principles II (4 credits)
Prerequisite(s): ACC 101 with a grade of C or higher
