Teaching Assistant: Level III

The 9-credit Teaching Assistant: Level III microcredential is designed to further the knowledge and skills of those who wish to work as a certified Teaching Assistant. To reach NYS Teaching Assistant Level III certification, applicants need to complete at least 18 credits of college coursework. This program satisfies the required academic component and builds on Level II training to provide more in-depth knowledge of child development, supporting diverse student populations, and the educational context of working in schools. It is not necessary to already be a teaching assistant to begin this microcredential.

Requirements:
EDU 200 – Foundations of Education (3 credits)
Prerequisite OR Corequisite: EDU 100
HUM 218 – Working with Trauma Informed Care Skills (3 credits)
In addition, one course from the following list of electives:
PSY 201 – Developmental Psychology – Child (3 credits)
PSY 202 – Developmental Psychology – Adolescence (3 credits)
Elective prerequisite note: Students must complete PSY 101 prior to PSY 201 or 202.
