PST 130 - Public Safety Incident Management
1-3 Credits
This course introduces the incident command system (ICS) and the critical tasks the first responder must perform to stabilize the emergency in the first twenty minutes of the incident. The course is designed for "first in" responding units from the fire and emergency medical services.
Course Learning Outcomes
1. Establish command or assume other incident management roles as a first-in unit at a public safety incident.
2. Implement the required incident command system sectors as appropriate for the first thirty minutes of a public safety incident.
3. Summarize the critical tasks for the primary sectors for the first thirty minutes of an incident relevant to his/her public safety discipline.
4. Participate as a member of a multi-discipline, multi-agency management team to command a public safety incident for the first thirty minutes of the incident.
