PSC 100 - Public Safety Telecommunicator
This is a first course for public safety telecommunicators and dispatchers. It covers operations of a public safety communications center, record keeping, how to communicate clearly in emergency situations, using 911 system communications equipment and communicating with diverse populations. Students successfully completing the course will be certified by the Association of Public Safety Communications Officers Institute.

Course Learning Outcomes
1.Identify components of a 911 emergency communications system.
2.Describe the roles of human or technical components of a 911 emergency communications system.
3.Evaluate incoming reports or requests for service.
4.Initiate the appropriate fire, emergency medical services, or law enforcement response to public safety emergencies.
5.Analyze requests for service from diverse populations to acquire information related to an incident.
6.Demonstrate appropriate use of tools available to public safety telecommunicators for electronic communications, manual or electronic documentation and record keeping, accessing reference resources, or voice communications.
7.Communicate with a 911 caller to obtain the information necessary to initiate an appropriate public safety response.
8.Apply ethical decision making to all roles of a public safety telecommunicator.
