FPT 136 - Specialized Aircraft Fire Fighting

.5 Credits

This course provides firefighters with the knowledge and skills to extinguish specialized aircraft fires, including fires in the cockpit, cabin, lavatory, engine, and brakes. This course utilizes both classroom and live-fire extinguishment simulation. This course exceeds FAR 139 annual requirements for live fire training. Must have firefighter certification.

Course Learning Outcomes
1. Evaluate aircraft interior life hazards and determine the best method of access and egress for evacuation and rescue.
2. Utilize firefighting tools and equipment to suppress/extinguish fire, secure the aircraft, and terminate a fire emergency incident.
3. Identify and manage life hazards to the firefighting team.
4. Assess the aircraft fire/crash emergency mitigation alternatives and select the most appropriate course of action.
