PSC 202 - Law Enforcement Dispatching

7 Credits

This course concentrates on the techniques, roles and responsibilities of law enforcement dispatching. Topics covered include laws, regulations, dispatching procedures, record keeping, communication skills, and law enforcement systems like NYSPIN.

Course Learning Outcomes
1. Initiate a law enforcement response based on information received from a telecommunicator, a law enforcement officer, or established response plan.
2. Interact with law enforcement officers via various technologies to assist them with acquiring information, assist with coordinating their response, and to provide information to others.
3. Document dispatch actions related to a law enforcement response to a public safety event or request for service.
4. Recall common laws and regulations frequently encountered in law enforcement requests for service through a 911 center.
