PSC 101 - Emergency Medical Dispatch

2 Credits

This course prepares the participants to effectively triage illness and injury calls based on the information provided by callers and to competently give pre-arrival instructions to those in need of emergency services. Successful completion leads to certification by the National Academy of Emergency Medical Dispatch.

Course Learning Outcomes
1. Categorize an emergency medical problem based on signs and symptoms from a discussion with a 911 caller.
2. Instruct a caller requesting emergency medical assistance to provide appropriate emergency care prior to the arrival of emergency responders based on standardized emergency medical dispatch algorithms and protocols.
