NUR 210 - Issues in Nursing

1 Credit

NUR 210 is a nonclinical course in which issues of professional nursing are critically examined through exploration of current themes including quality and safety initiatives, leadership and management practices, licensure and legal implications, employment matters and professional responsibility.

Prerequisites: NUR 110 and NUR 112 with a minimum grade of C.

Course Learning Outcomes
1. Describe strategies to improve health equity and reduce health disparities.
2. Analyze patient safety adverse events/near misses and system improvement processes to support a culture of safety.
3. Develop strategies for making a successful transition from student nurse to professional nurse, embracing ideals of equity, inclusivity, integrity, responsibility, ethical practice, and legal regulations.
4. Demonstrate interprofessional leadership knowledge and skills, including the ability to delegate, to provide safe, quality, efficient, and effective nursing care.
5. Integrate ethical, legal and regulatory frameworks of nursing into practice according to established standards of professional nursing.
6. Describe professional activities required to become successfully employed as a registered nurse.
