PHO 164 - Digital Imaging

3 Credits

As an introduction to the technical and aesthetic fundamentals of digital photographic imaging, this course introduces students to non-destructive editing techniques to modify, manipulate, and enhance photographic images for use in various visual communication fields. The course will address all stages of file management, including the capture, export, enhancement and manipulation, uploading, and printing of photographic images.

PHO 106 or permission of instructor.

Course Learning Outcomes
1. Identify different modes of color production.
2. Create accurate color representations in soft digital display.
3. Apply methods of non-destructive image editing and manipulation using contemporary image editing software on original photographic imagery.
4. Describe the various kinds of image file types as applied to different photographic situations.
5. Apply current photographic terminology to critique works of others.
6. Describe the relationships between primary, secondary, and complimentary colors.
