HUM 119 - Case Management and Documentation

6 Credits

Students will continue their development of basic helping skills in context of case management in human services. Students will examine and evaluate client assessment, goal setting, case planning, documentation, and discharge planning.

As part of this course, students are also required to complete an experiential learning portion totaling 115 hours of field work by the end of the semester. Under the careful guidance of seasoned faculty member, students will explore and gain hands-on practical experience in a community agency based on their interests and goals. Students will discuss and analyze field work experiences. Students must have successfully completed HUM 109 with a C- or higher in order to register for this course.

Prerequisite(s): HUM 109 with a grade of C- or higher.

1.Apply case management skills in the context of human services.
2.Analyze field experiences with peers.
3.Evaluate professionalism and ethical behavior at field placement site and with peers during seminar.
4.Differentiate between the micro, mezzo, and macro levels of human services.
5.Apply culturally competent best practices in case management.
6.Develop a mental health assessment as a component of case management.
