ENG 250 - Professional Communication
3 Credits
This course prepares students to produce practical and persuasive business and professional communications in both printed and digital formats appropriate for various audiences. Students will utilize writing and speaking skills necessary in various career fields and professional settings and create, revise, and edit several types of communications with attention to clarity, organization, formatting, and appropriate language. Research techniques, intercultural communication, problem solving, and preparation and delivery of oral communications will be addressed.
Prerequisite(s): ENG 101 with a grade of C or better or ENG 200 with a grade of C or better.

Course Learning Outcomes
1.Apply conventions of written and oral professional communication, including clarity and organization, in the production of a variety of documents and presentations (i.e., emails, memos, proposals, and formal reports).
2.Revise and edit written and oral communications in response to peer feedback.
3.Create professional materials related to career building (i.e., resumes, cover letters, and online networking profiles).
4.Deliver an effective presentation demonstrating proficiency in presentation technology.
5.Construct written and oral arguments, adapted to a specific audience and addressing professional or business-related issues.
6.Identify and evaluate sources of information, including professional documents and research articles, for substance, bias, and intended effect.
