AmeriCorps

Education funding through community service

AmeriCorps is a national service program that connects you with meaningful community-based work. When you successfully complete a service term, you may receive the AmeriCorps Education Award, which can be used to pay for qualified education expenses or repay eligible student loans. Many placements also provide a modest living allowance during service. Many AmeriCorps opportunities are available locally, allowing you to serve your community while working toward your educational goals.

NYS National Guard Recruitment Incentive & Retention Program

Tuition assistance through military service

This New York State program supports students who serve in the Army National Guard, Air National Guard, or Naval Militia. If you’re eligible, you may receive tuition assistance of up to $4,350 per calendar year, helping reduce the cost of attending MCC. The program is competitive and designed for students committed to balancing military service with their education.

Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC)

The Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) offers leadership training and scholarship opportunities if you’re preparing to serve as an officer in the U.S. armed forces. As an MCC student, you can participate through partner colleges and universities in the Rochester area, including SUNY Brockport’s Army ROTC, Rochester Institute of Technology’s Army ROTC or Air Force ROTC, and University of Rochester’s Naval ROTC.
