Overload Status

The maximum number of courses for a semester is based on the course requirements for each program as shown in the College Catalog. The normal load for a Liberal Arts student is five courses and a physical education or health education course. For an extension of the normal course load, a Liberal Arts student must receive a signed approval form (prior to registration) from their advisor or a counselor in the Advisement and Transfer Services or in the Student Engagement Center at the Downtown Campus. Students in programs other than Liberal Arts must receive a signed approval form (prior to registration) from their department chairperson. Permission to carry a course overload is usually not granted unless a student has a cumulative average of at least 3.0 and/or can demonstrate a special need.
