About Us

Who are our students?

The Transitional Studies (TRS) program serves students who need developmental reading, writing, and/or math, as determined by MCC's Placement Test (Accuplacer).

Students fall into two categories:

  1. Transitional Studies program students (TS01), with placement of TRS 100 Reading/Writing on Accuplacer;
  2. Students from other programs throughout the college.

Both groups are required to take TRS courses in order to develop basic skills needed for degree or certificate programs.

Academic support is readily available through free tutoring and coursework assistance at a number of computer-equipped centers at both the Brighton and Downtown campuses:

Program students also receive support through personalized academic advisement with TRS faculty and Student Support Services advisors. Course registration sessions for TS01 program students are held on a regular basis prior to each semester.
