Purpose Statement
The purpose of the Office of Academic Assessment is to assist faculty in the design and implementation of the assessment of student learning. The Office of Academic Assessment seeks to promote engagement in academic assessment by providing:
- Training opportunities
- Sharing best-practices
- Offering consultative services
- Encouraging discourse on related educational topics throughout the college community
Teaching, learning and assessment are complementary activities. Faculty design programs and courses that equip students with the skills necessary to succeed in a profession or at a transfer institution; the process of assessment provides opportunities to understand the degree to which students are successful in acquiring those skills.
Through the systematic process of assessment and evaluation, the College can make informed decisions about the design and implementation of its degree-based and general education programs.
Foundations for Student Success 4.1: Closing the Assessment Loop
Approved by the Faculty Senate December 2015, it is the College’s updated assessment plan. The Office of Academic Assessment assists faculty directly in the support of the evaluation of MCC's degrees and certificates and the assessment of the general education program.
