A- = 3.7

B+ = 3.3
B = 3.0
B- = 2.7

C+ = 2.3
C = 2.0
C- = 1.7

D+ = 1.3
D = 1.0
D- = 0.7

Grades of I, AU, W, WI and R have neither credit nor quality points assigned.

SEMESTER GPA

Calculate only for credit courses completed during the semester with grades of A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D-, or F as follows:

  1. Determine the quality points earned for each course.
  2. Total the quality points earned for each course.
  3. Total the quality hours for all courses.
  4. Divide the current quality points by the current quality hours.

Example:

Sample Semester Grades
Course Quality Hours Grade Quality Point
Value
Quality Point
Calculation
Total Quality
Points
ENG 101 3 F 0 (3 X 0.0) = 0.0
GEO 101 4 C- 1.7 (4 X 1.7) = 6.8
ART 103 * I * (---) *
HIS 103 3 B 3 (3 X 3.0) = 9.0
MAT 170 3 D+ 1.3 (3 X 1.3) = 3.9
PE 101 2 A 4 (2 X 4.0) = 8.0
  15       27.7

CURRENT GPA: 27.7 ÷ 15 = 1.846

* - The "I" grade is not used computation of GPA. This computation is for one semester only.

CUMULATIVE GPA

Cumulative GPA is an average based on dividing the total quality points by the total quality hours earned at MCC.
