NYSED Coaching Certification

NY State Coaching Certification - MCC and SUNY Learning Network have teamed up to offer NYS Coaching Certification courses. This innovative program meets the eligibility requirements for individuals to coach in the public schools in New York State.

MCC's program is available in a traditional classroom environment throughout the year. The SUNY Learning Network (SLN) is an Internet-based delivery system. Lecture material and course content are offered entirely on-line via computer. All courses are offered by Monroe Community College faculty.

How to Register

You do not need to apply for admission to the College. If you are a new student you can register by mail, in person, or by fax. You'll need to complete a registration form and a Certificate of Residence form. Mail the completed forms to:

Required Courses

The following courses are required for successful completion of the classroom or on-line NYS Coaching Certification.

  • PPE 175 - Principles and Philosophies of Physical Education and Sport
  • PPE 170 - Introduction to Sport Medicine
  • PPE 209 - Theories and Techniques of Coaching

Additional Requirements

  • CPR/AED and first aid
  • MR Child Abuse
  • SAVE
  • DASA
  • Heads Up Concussion Management
  • PPE 211 (1 credit) is offered every semester and offers the last four certifications
