Description
The Geography A.S. degree program is designed so that students who complete this coursework successfully will be well-positioned to finish a Bachelor’s degree in Geography with an additional two years of study at a SUNY transfer college, and at many colleges and universities outside the SUNY system. This program follows the SUNY seamless transfer path that outlines the essential knowledge for students during their first two years of study for a major in Geography, with concentrations in Physical Geography, Human Geography, Geospatial Technology, or Regional Geography.

Program Learning Outcomes
1. Organize the discipline of Geography into its major fields and careers: Physical Geography, Human Geography, Regional Geography, and Geospatial Technology.
2. Locate major political units and physical features important to Geography.
3. Describe the atmospheric circulation at various spatial and temporal scales.
4. Illustrate the processes within Earth’s water cycle.
5. Explain the different types of landforms at various spatial and temporal scales.
6. Explain the economic, environmental, or social attributes of place at various scales.
7. Determine the factors of location for the primary, secondary, or tertiary economic sectors.
8. Engage in the scientific process in an inquiry based project.
9. Collect data in the field to explore the natural landscape with the use of GIS.
10. Formulate a delineation of formal, functional, or vernacular regions of the world at various scales.
