HSP 120 - Hospitality Technology Applications
3 Credits
This course introduces computer applications used in the Hospitality and Travel & Tourism industries. Students gain foundational knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, survey management tools, Property Management Systems (PMS), Global Distribution Systems (GDS), Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, loyalty programs, current mobile applications, or other emerging technologies relevant to the industry. Emphasis is placed on hands-on learning, allowing students to develop practical skills and apply technology solutions to problem-solving tasks and the creation of industry-specific content.
Course Learning Outcomes
1.Demonstrate the use of Microsoft Office applications within the hospitality industry.
2.Describe the various information systems used in the hospitality industry such as Property Management Systems (PMS), E-Commerce, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, Global Distribution Systems (GDS) or restaurant management systems.
3.Explore current and emerging hospitality technologies, and explain their impact on the customer experience and industry operations.
4.Apply accessibility standards within technology applications.
5.Discuss customer security within technology platforms.
6.Create an online survey and organize the data for analysis.
7.Design and present an electronic presentation on a current trend in hospitality technology.
8.Demonstrate the ethical use of artificial intelligence in the hospitality industry.
