MCC's Paralegal Studies Certificate Program is approved by SUNY, the State Education Department and the American Bar Association. We offer a post-degree certificate program and, therefore, the applicants participate in a selective admissions process. Beginning students can only start in the Fall semester and we begin processing applications each Spring semester. Since the program is limited to twenty-five students, the program is usually fully enrolled well before the start of Fall classes. In recent years the program has been closed to new applications by mid-summer so applying early is advised.
Applicants with at least a Bachelor's degree can matriculate directly into the program through the MCC Admissions office, no interview is required.
If you have an Associate’s Degree which includes at least eighteen hours of general education credits, you will need to complete a three-step process:
The Recommendation Form is available to be downloaded here* and it can also be obtained through the Admissions
Office Office or the Law and Criminal Justice Department at the Downtown Campus.
To set up the personal interview, you may call Michael Martella at 585-685-6141 or e-mail him at email@example.com. The completed Recommendation Form and a copy of your college transcript should be brought to the interview. The Department of Law and Criminal Justice processes applications year-round for recommendation to the MCC Admissions Office. Classes begin each Fall. Students complete the Program in 15 months of part-time evening and Saturday study.
