Frequently Asked Questions
Want to know more about the admissions process at MCC? Here are a few questions our Admissions Team often hears from prospective students.
- What is free community college?
Free community college is available to eligible students through programs like SUNY Reconnect and the NYS Excelsior Scholarship. For those who don’t qualify, MCC offers low tuition, financial aid, and additional scholarship opportunities to make college more affordable. - Do I have to apply to take a class?
If you’re planning to take a class or two (or a total of 11 or fewer credits), are not seeking financial aid, and are not pursuing a specific degree, you do not have to apply. You can register when classes are open, either online, in person, or by mail. - Do I need to reapply if I previously attended MCC?
If you withdrew from MCC for one or two semesters and you plan to return to the same academic program, you can use our Quick Admission process. Email Registration & Records (registration@monroecc.edu) or call 585.292.2300. However, if you did not attend MCC for more than two semesters, you’ll need to reapply.
