Welcome to the Downtown Campus of Monroe Community College.
2017 marked a new era for the campus with its relocation from 228 East Main Street to 321 State Street. Our campus has long been viewed as a special place in helping to shape the strategic vision for our region. It remains a part of Rochester's Downtown Innovation Zone, and can add its new location in the High Falls Historic District and the Eco-district as additional points of pride. I have no doubt that supporters of this campus will look back on this moment and take pride in their advocacy, determination, and commitment to creating a space that is conducive to making dreams become realities. For the past twenty-five years, this campus thrived in the Sibley Building. It is our task to make sure that we continue to do so in our new home.
In addition to providing excellent educational opportunities for area students, the campus offers an array of services that integrate community-based organizations, local businesses and government agencies into teaching and learning. With an urban presence, our Downtown Campus effectively achieves key elements of MCC’s mission to provide access, economic development, partnership building, and lifelong learning as well as the primary goal to prepare students for success in the classroom and beyond our doors.
MCC’s Downtown Campus utilizes cutting-edge educational technology to provide a stimulating environment for learning. In addition to the Learning Commons, the college offers multiple options to enhance student success. These include advisement, career exploration, mentoring, Single Stop, Dreamkeepers, wellness promotion, and personal support services. Course options include credit and non-credit offerings, basic skills, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), diplomas, certificates and associate degrees. The Downtown Campus is home to the Education, Law & Criminal Justice, and Human Services Departments. Many sub-disciplines are housed within these programs. On-site Pre-collegiate programs include Liberty Partnerships and Upward Bound. AmeriCorps and the Rochester Early College International High School are also located at the Downtown Campus.
I hope that you are as excited as I am about the opportunity to build on our tradition of academic excellence at our new campus.
