Basic Criminal Investigations Course

Program Announcement

The Monroe County Public Safety Training Facility (PSTF), under the auspices of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), will be holding a Basic Criminal Investigations Course at 1190 Scottsville Road, Rochester, NY. This course is designed to familiarize police officers, and in particular new police investigators, with the process of conducting criminal investigations for the critical task of solving crime. A variety of topics and investigative aspects will be presented by experienced law enforcement officers. Seating is limited.

Students who successfully complete this course will receive 4.5 college credits from Monroe Community College.

February 12 thru 23, 2024, 8:30am to 4:30pm

Prerequisites

  • Active duty NYS law enforcement officer or acceptable alternative as authorized by PSTF staff

Required Attire and/or Equipment

Attire (dress code):

  • Business casual, or
  • Department designated uniform of the day

Graduation Requirements

  • 90% attendance (policy set by Monroe Community College)
  • 70% passing grade on written examination

Course Tuition and Fees

  • Tuition: $918.00 (per person)
  • Estimated Student Fees: $111.75 (Student fees may vary each semester)
  • It is Not necessary to send a check or voucher prior to class. Students will be billed at the completion of the course.

Please note: Monroe Community College reserves the right to revise tuition and fees as necessary.

Reservations

Please complete the online Law Enforcement Program Course Reservation Form prior to January 22, 2024. Submitting a reservation form does not guarantee admittance to a course. Confirmation notices will be emailed approximately 2 weeks prior to the class. Please remember to check your junk/spam folder.

To avoid double tuition billing, a Certificate of Residence is required from students who reside outside of Monroe County.
