Breath Analysis Operator Recertification Course
Program Announcement
The Monroe County Public Safety Training Facility (PSTF), under the auspices of the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), will be holding the Municipal Police Training Council (MPTC) approved Breath Analysis Operator Recertification Course at 1190 Scottsville Road, Rochester, New York. This recertification course is designed to refresh and update operator knowledge of the DataMaster DMT Infrared Breath Test Instrument. Attendees must demonstrate proficiency and attain a passing score on a formal examination. Pursuant to NYS Department of Health (DOH) regulations, breath analysis operator certification must be renewed every two-years and within the 120 calendar days preceding the permit expiration date.
The Breath Analysis Operator Recertification course is also offered, as an option, through a distance learning program and can be accessed on the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services website (www.nydcjssims.com).
Session Dates
December 1, 2025, 8:30am to 12:30pm
Prerequisites
- Full or part-time active duty NYS certified police officer;
- Attendees must present their current BAO permit bearing a valid 2025 expiration date.
Required Attire and/or Equipment
Attire (dress code):
- Business casual, or
- Department designated uniform of the day
Graduation Requirements
- Passing grade on written examination.
Course Tuition and Fees
- There is no tuition or fees as this is a non-credit bearing course.
Reservations
Please complete the online Law Enforcement Program Course Reservation Form prior to November 10, 2025. Submitting a reservation form does not guarantee admittance to a course. Confirmation notices will be emailed approximately 2 weeks prior to the class. Please remember to check your junk/spam folder.
To avoid double tuition billing, a Certificate of Residence is required from students who reside outside of Monroe County.
