Course in Police Supervision

Program Announcement

The Monroe County Public Safety Training Facility (PSTF), under the auspices of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), will be holding a Course in Police Supervision at 1190 Scottsville Road, Rochester, NY. This course assists law enforcement officers in making the transition to a management position. Through lecture and practical exercises, students will learn to successfully apply acquired skills to a wide range of realistic supervisory problems. The curriculum prepares students to successfully meet the challenges of supervision and to realistically anticipate and plan for any situation.

Students who successfully complete this course will receive six (6) college credits from Monroe Community College.

Session Dates

March 3 through 21, 2025, 8:30am to 4:30pm

Prerequisites

  • Active duty NYS police or peace officer;
  • Completion of FEMA IS-200.C (certificate of completion must be provided)

Notice: To comply with NYS Public Health Law section 2165, All Students who attend this course must have proof of immunization against measles, mumps, and rubella on file with Monroe Community College Health and Wellness prior to registering for this course. Students honorably discharged from the military within 10 years from the date of beginning of the course may attend pending the receipt of immunization records from the armed services.

Please note: Per NYCRR PART 6021.6(h): Only sworn police officers enrolled in this course are eligible for issuance of a DCJS certificate of completion. Sworn peace officers may attend this course but will not receive DCJS certification.

Graduation Requirements

  • 90% attendance (policy set by Monroe Community College)
  • 70% passing grade on written examination
  • Satisfactory completion of practical exercises

Course Tuition and Fees

  • Tuition: $1,260.00 (per person)
  • Estimated Student Fees: $196.50 (Student fees may vary each semester)
  • Agencies will be billed directly

Please complete the online Law Enforcement Program Course Reservation Form prior to February 3, 2025. Submitting a reservation form does not guarantee admittance to a course. Confirmation notices will be emailed approximately 2 weeks prior to the class. Please remember to check your junk/spam folder.

To avoid double tuition billing, a Certificate of Residence is required from students who reside outside of Monroe County.
