Crisis Intervention Team Training
Program Announcement
The Monroe County Public Safety Training Facility (PSTF) will be holding Crisis Intervention Team Training at 1190 Scottsville Road, Rochester, NY 14624. This course provides attendees with the tools and knowledge to assist individuals experiencing an emotional or mental health crisis. Students will learn to recognize the symptoms of emotional/mental health emergencies, tools to de-escalate volatile situations, and the resources available to refer community members for further assistance. Attendance is capped at 30 students.
Students who successfully complete this course will receive two (2) credits from Monroe Community College.
Session Dates
March 24 through 28, 2025, 8:00am to 4:00pm
Prerequisites
- Three (3) years, full time, active duty NYS certified police officer, peace officer, or campus public safety officer;
- Candidates holding NYS security guard certification and employment with a campus safety or not-for-profit entity will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Required Attire and/or Equipment
Attire (dress code):
- Business casual, Or
- Department designated uniform of the day
Instructional Areas
- Mental health diagnoses, treatments, and local resources
- Engaging specific populations, e.g., children, veterans, developmentally disabled
- De-escalation techniques
Graduation Requirements
- 90% attendance (policy set by Monroe Community College)
- 70% passing grade on written examination
Course Tuition and Fees
- Tuition: $420.00 (per person)
- Estimated Student Fees: $113.75 (Student fees may vary each semester)
- Agencies will be billed directly
Note: Monroe Community College may find it necessary to revise tuition and fees as necessary and reserves the right to do so.
Reservations
Please complete the online Law Enforcement Program Course Reservation Form prior to February 24, 2025. Submitting a reservation form does not guarantee admittance to a course. Confirmation notices will be emailed approximately 2 weeks prior to the class. Please remember to check your junk/spam folder.
To avoid double tuition billing, a Certificate of Residence is required from students who reside outside of Monroe County.
