Railroad Investigation and Safety Course
Program Announcement
The Monroe County Public Safety Training Facility (PSTF), in partnership with the Fairport Police Department and CSX Police, will be holding a Railroad Investigation and Safety Course at 1190 Scottsville Road, Rochester, New York.
Approximately every three hours a train collision occurs in the United States often requiring the assistance of first responders at the scene of an incident. The collision scene may be complex and consist of a variety of safety concerns for first responders. The Railroad Investigation and Safety Course provides first responders with critical information allowing them to effectively respond to and safely investigate incidents involving the railroad.
Attendees will learn personal safety techniques while they are investigating a grade crossing collision or trespasser incident, in addition to maintaining on-scene safety unique to the railroad environment.

Prerequisites
- Active duty NYS peace or police officers
Required Attire and/or Equipment

- Department uniform of the day

Course Tuition and Fees
- This course is offered free of charge.
Reservations
Please complete the online Law Enforcement Program Course Reservation Form prior to March 3, 2025. Submitting a reservation form does not guarantee admittance to a course. Confirmation notices will be emailed approximately 2 weeks prior to the class. Please remember to check your junk/spam folder.
To avoid double tuition billing, a Certificate of Residence is required from students who reside outside of Monroe County.
