Scholarship Opportunity

MCC Public Safety Training Facility, Paramedic Education, established 1992

The MCC Paramedic program is very excited to announce that we have been awarded funding from the GMR Foundation to offer a scholarship for the general education portion of the Associate’s Degree in Paramedicine for two students from underrepresented minorities. Historically, successful completion of the paramedic program is highly dependent upon an academic foundation which includes college experience. Thus in order to better support and prepare future paramedic students, this award provides the financial support to build the educational foundation for a successful career in paramedicine.

Students receiving this scholarship must use it to complete the general education portion first, and will be automatically enrolled within the paramedic program upon successful completion of their first year of the Associate’s degree. This scholarship does not provide funding for the paramedic certificate portion of the degree.

Candidates for this award must fulfill the following:

  1. Have attained their NYS certification as an EMT-B
  2. Belong to an underrepresented minority
  3. Have minimal to no prior college experience
  4. Seek to complete their Associate’s Degree in paramedicine and pursue a career in prehospital medicine.

The goal is to provide funding to two students for the academic year beginning in August 2022. Interested candidates should contact the Paramedic Program Director, Bill Comella (wcomella@monroecc.edu).
