Program Grievance Policy

When a student believes there are grounds for a grievance, the aggrieved student shall meet with the instructor involved in the incident to discuss and attempt to resolve the grievance within five working days. If the incident involves clinical education setting personnel, the aggrieved student shall initially meet with the clinical instructor or clinical coordinator, not affiliate personnel. If the grievance is the result of disciplinary action against the student, the student shall meet with the instructor and program director. All meetings shall be recorded on the Student Counseling Report.

If the aggrieved student is not satisfied with outcome of this meeting, the student should follow the academic grievance procedure outlined in the MCC Catalog & Student Handbook located in the Academic Services webpages. More specific information may be found in the Rights and Freedoms of Students brochure that explains the academic grievance process.

Note: A student may be removed from the clinical site for reasons related to the student’s physical or emotional safety and well-being, or for reasons relating to the safety and well-being of patients, students, faculty or hospital property.
