Description
The English degree program includes a balance of general education and liberal arts coursework with a concentration on literature. The curriculum provides students an opportunity to develop analytical and critical thinking skills while examining literature as an expression of the human experience, with special attention to diverse voices and issues of representation, identity, and power. The program prepares students for future study leading to careers in fields that require excellent analytical, communication, and writing skills, such as business, nonprofit fundraising and development, communications, media, the arts, law, or education.

Program Learning Outcomes
1. Analyze diverse literary texts from a variety of genres with sensitivity to the historical, cultural, and social conditions in which they are produced and read.
2. Produce and support original arguments using primary and secondary sources and a standard documentation style.
3. Interpret literary texts by applying theoretical approaches.
4. Conduct and evaluate research to better understand a range of texts.
